28.10.12 Melodica, Melody and Me, PLUS WOODPECKER WOOLIAMS
Combining the folk influences of Bert Jansch and Victor Jara with their Dub and Reggae heroes Augustus Pablo and Lee Scratch Perry, Brixton’s original folksteppers, Melodica Melody and Me have become Britain’s go-to band for all-night skanking and festival stomping.
They have toured with the likes of Laura Marling, Johnny Flynn and Mumford and Sons. Whilst finishing university and school in London, Manchester, Brighton and Leeds they have built up large pockets of adoring fans in the underage scene and across the country. They have sold out venues at each respective city and each of them have eagerly adopted the band as their own.
"Incredibly beautiful, with harmonies and rich instrumentation that make you want to dance and cry at the same time" – Observer Music Monthly.
A bonus feature on tonight's bill is Woodpecker Williams - She's getting some great press just now: “Hi ho, hi ho, into the dark we go – with a singer who sounds like a homicidal Disney heroine, singing songs of violence and desire” - The Guardian
