13.04.12 STANLY BRINKS AND THE FLYING KANIKS

STANLY BRINKS AND THE FLYING KANIKS

We've put in one extra special gig night - on Sunday May 13th - to see us through during our 9 month break, until The Matchbox Cabaret returns in September.

Our new best friend STANLY BRINKS visits - this time with his Norwegian Bandmates - The Flying Kaniks, and featuring Freschard. A top night of acoustic antifolk-flavoured sounds from a couple of Europe’s best. Two sets from Stanley with one from Freschard in the middle.

Stanley Brinks and the Flying Kaniks Biography

Stanley Brinks aka Andre Herman Dune is a Swede living in Paris. The Flying Kaniks are his Norwegian acoustic bandmates.

An original member of the Herman Düne trio, he has recorded and played shows in Europe, the UK and the US under various other names: Ben Dope, Ben Haschish, Klaus Bong, John Trawling, Lord Stanislas…

He’s been championed by the likes of Jeff Lewis (who even wrote a song about how Herman Dune were better when Andre was still in them) and in 2010 he teamed up with much-loved UK indie-folkers The Wave Pictures to release the album ‘Stanley Brinks and The Wave Pictures’ (Ciao Ketchup).

‘ten songs of a quality as high as this represents another pleasant and worthy outing from Brinks in his post Herman Düne world’ – DrownedInSound
