Despite having only been on the live circuit for a matter of months, Teesside's very own tribute superstars The Southmartins have already made a great impact in the north. Storming appearances at Middlesbrough Music Live, Stockton Fringe, Liverpool's massive Mathew Street Festival and sell out gigs across the region's venues have earned them a solid reputation with hardcore fans and casual customers alike. Andy Johnson's uncanny knack of singing like Paul Heaton, a young band of lively musicians and an under-appreciated but unbeatable songbook (Song for Whoever, Perfect 10, Happy Hour, I'll Sail this Ship Alone, Don't Marry Her...and many more) make them a tribute band with anything but selective appeal. They strip their sound down to a four piece for a trip to The Waiting Room this Sunday. Expect bittersweet melodies, heartbreaking harmonies and classic singalongs.
