Waiting Room News
We have a tremendous Double Bill this Sunday with unlikely bedfellows
Andrew Johnson and Men Diamler
As we count down our final three gig nights - this season, (We're taking a break from hosting Waiting for Sunday until the autumn), we mash together two excellent full-on singer-songwriters, from opposite ends of the folk-pop rainbow.
"Men Diamler is a young man with a cult reputation in the South West who will not be tamed by the powers that be, reconfiguring a English/Welsh soul music through woozy operatics and wild and weird song/stories. Sweet and darkness have never sounded so close or so intense in such performer. Despite his tender age he is a channel for old thyme ways - footstompin' blues, two string serenades, backwoods drinking hollers, horse play and pagan folk all get exorcised....
Andrew Johnson is Teesside's awesomest pop supernova, and anonymous cross-genre post post-modern impresario behind many of the most challenging shows to have been aired in THE NORTH in recent years, including; "Thornaby The Musical", "JESUSCHRIST! - He's a Superstar - THE RESURRECTION", "Carmen and Dick Ride Again", And "HAUSWERK - From Dusseldorf to Now". As a solo artiste he must be up to album no. 49 by now - and they each have their merits.
Let's all stand for Andrew Johnson.
