Waiting Room News
EXCLUSIVE!
This Sunday - The Matchbox Cabaret hosts an exclusive happening
with Best-selling writer Richard Milward, and Musician Gavin Smith -
with support coming from The Brucey Ripper Band.
Richard Milward is the author of 'Apples' and 'Ten Storey Love Song', two twisted love stories following the lives of young folk in Middlesbrough, published by Faber&Faber in 2007 and 2009 respectively. 'Apples' was adapted for the stage in 2010, picking up an award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival; and is soon to be made into a film.
In a one-off event for Matchbox Cabaret, Richard will be reading from both novels, with musical accompaniment from Gavin Smith. Richard has been known to adopt obscure, psychedelic headgear when performing, while Gavin's sublime guitar and effects have appeared in various bands in Teesside, over the years. Think Irvine Welsh and Jack Kerouac conceiving a lovechild whilst listening to Mogwai. In a Middlesbrough bedroom. A Q&A session with Richard will follow the readings.
From 7pm on July 10th - at The Waiting Room - Tickets £8 - This is our last programmed Matchbox Cabaret of the Summer* - (We're back with the sold-out Duke Special show on September 4th), come for this week's very special end of term party!
* BONUS EVENT:! Just added... On July 17th -
This August a group of teachers from Middlesbrough College, are travelling to Africa to work with registered charity Comrades of Children Overseas (COCO). By working closely with the teachers, our aim is to implement some sustainable changes to the education in Tanzania.

7TH CIRCLE
"Comedy on a fabulously surreal scale"
Prague Post
‘Dependably and consistently funny’ comedy theatre group WastedINK are proud to present Seventh Circle, a darkly comic and peculiar tale that sees two charlatan clairvoyants pay the price for their ill-gotten fame.
Seventh Circle follows unsuccessful clairvoyants Flowers and Given who after helping the police catch a dangerous criminal have become an overnight success.
The public, blinded by the showmanship and the celebrity spot light on Flowers and Given are suckered in at every turn and these shameless conmen are cashing in on people’s misery.
However Flowers and Given are about to find out that it doesn’t take much to wake the Devil…
After being named one of the top five acts in Prague Fringe Festival 2011, WastedINK are bringing Seventh Circle back home to The Waiting Room and what’s more? It’s all for a good cause.
Tickets are £10 - Sunday July 17th - at The Waiting Room.
All proceeds from this show will go towards helping the schools involved in the project.
Seventh Circle is the only show of its kind, mixing comedy and horror in this thrill ride of hilarity and spectacle which is not to be missed!
